Assembly LXXVII: “Creating Communities at Yale”

Thursday–Friday 16–17 November 2017

The Assembly will examine the many ways that communities are fostered and supported at Yale, from living environments to campus organizations. A introduction to the two new residential colleges will be part of the program.

Every year since 1952, the Yale Medal has been conferred to honor outstanding individual service to the University. This year's recipients are Anne Boucher '80; Kenneth D. Inadomi '76; Charles B. Johnson '54; Randolph M. Nelson '85; and L‎inus Travers '58, '59 MAT.

10:45-11:45 am         Friday University Update with President Salovey

Yale President Peter Salovey ’83 MS, ’86 PhD will provide an update on his priorities for Yale. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance.

12:15-1:30 pm           Friday Lunch

Two sets of awards will be presented at this lunch: The Yale-Jefferson Public Service Awards and the Yale Alumni Fund Chairman's Awards.

2:15- 3:30 pm            Plenary: Yale Alumni Update "Creating Communities Beyond Yale"

The AYA’s executive director, Weili Cheng ’77, will present an overview of alumni programs and initiatives throughout the past year as well as results from the recent “Your Voice, Your Yale” all-alumni survey." Ken Inadomi ’76 and Sheryl Carter Negash ’82, co-chairs of the Alumni Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, will update the Assembly on the conclusions of this alumni-led effort to increase diversity and inclusion in the full breadth of Yale alumni communities, organizations, and programs.

3:45- 5:00 pm           Alumni Information Sessions

These concurrent breakout sessions will provide an opportunity for Assembly attendees to learn more about current AYA and Alumni Fund programs and to provide input on new initiatives.   5:30 PM - 7:00 PM            Volunteer Leadership Awards Reception                              

At this reception we will celebrate the presentation of this year’s AYA Leadership Awards for Volunteer Innovation and Service, and the AYA Board of Governors Excellence Awards for alumni groups and programs. The Admissions Office will also be presenting their Alumni Schools Committee awards.

This free, open-air reception for all Yale alumni and their guests provides a place to meet up with classmates and others before going to The Game. There will be free hot dogs, chowder, cookies, hot beverages and other refreshments.
