Join us at Reunion: The 25th Reunion of the Yale College Class of 1983 is almost here: Thursday, May 29 through Sunday, June 1, 2008 in glorious New Haven. Reunion FAQ and Updates Q. Is there a Class Book? A: A Class of 1983 "Virtual Class Book," or web group, has been set up at GroupOf (click here). Your invitation to join the group and create a profile should have arrived by email; if it didn't, contact Mike Madison (madison@pitt.edu) to join the group. Q: Registration materials for the Class of 1983 indicate that all reunion activities are "casual dress." The AYA website indicates that dinner on Saturday is usually a dressy affair. Which is it? A: Trust your class. Leave the tux, take the cardigan. Or whatever suits your casual style. Q: Will Internet access be available during Reunion? A: Computer access for checking mail or browsing the Internet will be available in the Connecticut Hall computer cluster on the Old Campus during the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. If folks bring a laptop, they can also access the University’s wireless internet from any campus dorm room. Q: Will the Whiffs of '83 perform? A: Reliable sources suggest that they will appear at Mory's on Friday evening around 8:30 p.m. -- in addition to the Celebration of Yale Singing on Saturday afternoon and perhaps, just perhaps -- after dinner, under the tent on Old Campus! And don't miss Whim -- sources indicate that this is the first time ever that all of Whim '83 will sing together at a reunion, and perhaps one of the few times ever that all members of any Whim group -- for any class -- has returned for a reunion. Oldest College Daily Archives Now Online Relive your salad days via a brand new searchable archive of the Yale Daily News. Norman Oder reports: Fellow classmates, See an announcement on the library's home page (http://library.yale.edu/)
or go directly to the archive site: Sure, you can search on your name or the names of your friends, but it's also fun to check on traditions (remember Bladderball?) or organizations, to track mentions of faculty members, or even to look at the advertisements. There's one mini-collection, Coeducation at Yale (http://images.library.yale.edu/digitalcollections/ydnsample.htm), and more likely will be produced. Discussions between library staff and OCD representatives have led us to hope that the pilot will generate some significant gifts, from both YDN alumni and Yale alumni at large, to complete the project. Indeed, the library already garnered the enthusiastic contribution of the Class of 45W, which is funding digitization of the years 1940-48. Those going to reunion will be able to visit a demo
of the archive in the Sterling nave. Thanks, Reconnect with '83: The Class of 1983 has an email list for class members. Click here to join the list. If you're on Facebook, join the "Yale Class of 1983" group. You'll need your "aya.yale.edu" Virtual Yale Station email address (click here to register for Virtual Yale Station through the AYA website), or another yale.edu email address.
