Pueblos and Petroglyphs

The "pièce de résistance" for the last day of the Mini-Reunion was a bus trip to the San Cristobal Ranch to visit the pueblo and petroglyph sites. The ranch is privately owned and our trip was a unique opportunity arranged for us by Gerry Hotchkiss.

Four archaeologists briefed us and led groups to view the pueblo ruins and the petroglyphs, which involved hiking up and down hills and over rough terrain covered with scrub bushes and cacti, while keeping a wary eye out for rattlesnakes.
You mean we have to climb up there! OK, gang. Take a break, we're halfway up!
Gerry Hotchkiss keeps an eye out for stragglers. It was quite a climb, but the petroglyphs were worth it.
Dating from 1100 to 1300 A.D., some of them show exotic creatures ... and provide a romantic photo op.
