A Recent Letter From Peter Sutro"Impressed by the Yale 1951 mini-reunion in Italy last year, which was attended by 180 classmates and wives, and during which I led 85 on a 5 day tour of the Veneto region, I decided to do a similar (but much smaller) trip for our class. After much planning, my wife Marina and I were joined at the Venice airport by 6 classmates - Dick White, Dick Lemon, Burt Closson, Joe Munisteri, Michael Blow, David McKee and their significant others. In addition, we added friends (even a Harvard couple!). Twenty-five strong, and led by UVA Professor of Architecture, Mario di Varmarana, we spent 14 days touring the Veneto, Siena and Florence. With a good mix of culture, gastronomy and oenology, the trip was enjoyed by all. Some photos from our mini-mini-reunion are shown below." We are planning a similar 11 day trip in September 2007 to the Po Valley region focusing on the life and music of Verdi. Towns include Parma, Cremona, Piacenza, Modena and Mantua. We may still have a vacancy or two so, if you are interested, check out our web site:web.mac.com/psutro1. -- Peter |
