BOB FISKE WILL BE OUR SPEAKER
AT THE CLASS DINNER

Bob Fiske will be the featured speaker at our Class Dinner on Friday, June 8. His topic: "What's Good About Lawyers?"

Bob will draw upon his distinguished legal career to reflect on pressing issues of the day that are on all of our minds. He is well positioned to do so, having spent years shuttling between the public and private sectors.

For those classmates who do not know him, Bob is a prominent trial attorney and a partner in the New York law firm of David Polk & Wardwell, where he still presides over a very active practice.

Bob's public service has been rich and extensive. He served four years as United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York (1976-80) after four prior years (1957-61) as an assistant in that office. In that role, he won major cases involving narcotics figures and labor racketeers and chaired the Attorney General's Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys. He served as Independent Counsel in the Whitewater Investigation from January to October 1994.

Bob's private sector legal practice has been extremely varied. His clients have included the National Football League, the New York Mets and corporate giants including GE, Exxon and Bankers Trust. His specialties include professional liability, securities, products liability and white-collar crime. He is a past president of the Federal Bar Council and the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the recipient of numerous honors and awards.

This March Bob received the very prestigious New York City Bar Association Medal. In receiving the award, he was praised for "his allegiance to fairness and his unfailing adherence to upholding the integrity of the profession," "coolness under pressure," "soft-spoken humility" and "leadership with young assistants."

Given Bob Fiske's record, we look forward to a speech that reflects a remarkable wealth of experience.
